After being commissioned by the property developer Pioneer, we devised a comprehensive landscaping design for a residential quarter occupying 26 hectares. The project is based on the idea of nature and modern urban environment coexisting in harmony, creating a space that adds comfort and functionality. We tried to make a design that would combine individual approach, sustainability, safety and esthetic qualities – the key elements that ensure high quality of life.
It is not just a residential quarter, but an entire city within a city, an all-inclusive neighbourhood with rich infrastructure. Within you can find everything you need for a comfortable life – your own school, a nursery, a pedestrian boulevard, a play hub and a sports cluster with a full-scale football pitch and a volleyball ground, as well as a pump track for extreme sports lovers. Each element of the neighbourhood is designed with consideration for the needs of future residents and visitors.
We divided the territory into two main areas: a private one and a public one. The private area includes courtyards available only to residents. Each yard has lush vegetation and is fitted with diverse grounds for recreation, games and sports. Our main task was to bring as much vegetation to the site as possible: amid the greenery, we placed cozy recreational areas with canopies, sunbeds and swings that allow residents and visitors to enjoy the quiet and forget about the hustle and bustle of the city.
The design of pedestrian connections is based on the use of lines that resemble natural curves, which softens the space and creates the feeling as if the space is flowing.
The public area includes public squares, a play hub, a boulevard running through the site, a sports hub and a spacious area to walk pets.
One of the key features of the complex is the diversity and the detail of transition areas that create maximum comfort for the residents. The whole territory is united by a scenic boulevard – a linear park with two pedestrian routes having different tactile surfacing: hard pavers for the fast passage and stone dust for a leisurely stroll. Where the routes intersect, tree- and bushes-topped mounds appear creating the air of comfort and calm.
For those who love cycling and jogging, we made a looped path that would let people create long routes for sports. The entrance spaces for the nursery and the school located along the boulevard are fitted with educational and play elements: birdhouses, feeders, chalkboards, art pieces and areas for active play.
Special attention is given to playgrounds: in courtyards, we created spacious areas dedicated to play, while a big outdoor playset Snake became the site’s principal point of attraction. This multi-level structure includes climbing nets, slides, swings, a sand pit and talk tubes, encouraging children of all ages to get together.
We also focused our attention on creating a barrier-free environment: the landscape architecture is made flush with the buildings’ entrance landings; where there are height variations, we provided for ramps and tactile wayfinding that would ensure comfortable and safe travel for all the users. The coherent plan ensures free travel, which makes residential complex an ideal place to live that takes into account the needs of people with different possibilities and style of life.
