The task was to create a comfortable environment for residents and make the city center more attractive for tourists. The solution is to activate the “inner outskirts” of the city center, upgrade the city park, and create a “green corridor” connecting the city center with the main attraction. The project also aims to develop a unified concept based on local history – a “brand” that is attractive to both residents and visitors. One of the main goals was to preserve the established image of a hospitable provincial town and to emphasize the identity of the place. This led to one of the central ideas of the project – the creation of a system of urban “living rooms”: gazebos, themed playgrounds, gardens, as well as rooms in buildings adjacent to the design area. A well-organized pedestrian zone and recreational areas near historical monuments, along with the use of natural materials, textures, and patterns characteristic of the city, highlight the uniqueness and comfort of the existing development along the central streets. A quiet square with a wooden playground has been designed on the site of a vacant lot near the corner house. We have also proposed a careful restoration of the authentic wooden storage sheds adjacent to the square, which are still used by residents of neighboring houses. The main city park is enriched with a variety of functions and themed “living room” areas that tell the story of the city: an observation deck for plein-air painting, a tea room, a chess area with a carved lampshade, a fireplace lounge, a fountain stream, a wooden stage for events, and art objects that symbolically reinterpret local stories and myths. When improving the ravine area, we interfered with the existing ecosystem as little as possible. A path made of transparent metal mesh, illuminated by small “firefly” lanterns, enhances the atmosphere of a protected “fairy-tale forest.”
