GORKY PARK, KRASNOYARSK

The concept of the project works on three levels: it brings the character of the region to the park, reflects the local identity and the current public demand of the residents.
The nature of the edge.

The main feature of the concept is the actualization of the history of the origin of this place. The new park is a corner of the virgin taiga, where the characteristic species of trees, shrubs and ground cover plants have been returned. In addition to the dense coniferous forest, the character of the Krasnoyarsk Territory is carried by the Pillars and the culture of the «pillarism» as such. The image of the rock will be reflected in the project in the work with the landscape and the texture of the walls. The Yenisei, a mighty river, is the third feature of the region’s character.

Local identity:
The artistic image of the new park architecture will express itself in the characteristic local materials mined in the region: syenite, marl, aluminum. They all have a distinctive red tint. The very name of Krasnoyarsk etymologically refers us to these materials: Krasny Yar - Krasnaya Zemlya. Although the brutal image of the industrial extraction of these resources may seem inconspicuous, however, with high-quality integration into the design of the urban environment, it creates a special aesthetics of the space that fully reflects the local identity of the park in the center of the the center of Krasnoyarsk.

Public inquiry:
The existing functionality of the park is expressed mainly by children’s attractions. This is also the main commercial content. But their technical condition leaves much to be desired, and the presence itself does not meet the current request of residents, who more want to see this park as a place of quiet recreation. The creation of a new park program within the framework of the fundamental idea - a dense coniferous forest - and meeting the wishes of its users - is the third component of the project concept, which marks a new era for the park, when the primacy of its nature will replace obsolete attractions. Nature as a new amusement.
